DAY & TIME:

1:30 - 2:30 PM
Award-winning singer-songwriter and "Nashville Unplugged" creator and producer Aaron Benward sits down with the legendary Hall of Famer JD Souther for an insightful interview. Hear how hanging out in the bar at the Troubadour with Glenn Frey, Jackson Browne, Poco, and The Flying Burrito Brothers led to his lifelong connection with The Eagles and penning songs like "You're Only Lonely," "Heartache Tonight,” "Her Town, Too,” “The Heart of the Matter,” “New Kid in Town.”
JD has written songs that have been recorded by artists including The Chicks (13 million units sold), Dobie Gray, George Strait, Bonnie Raitt, and Michael Bublé. JD also wrote the song “Faithless Love,” notably recorded by Linda Ronstadt and also by Glen Campbell who was nominated for a GRAMMY® Award for his version. Linda Ronstadt’s memoir “Simple Dreams” gets its title from a song written by JD on Linda’s multi-platinum album of the same name.
The key element of Park City Song Summit are Summit Labs — discussions that dissect, illuminate, and interrogate the art of music and songwriting. They create an environment of inclusivity that promotes discussion of mental health, substance recovery, representation, and social equity in addition to all things music. A diverse group of artists will lead talks on their own while others will work with subject experts.
